About Temple Corner

An independent, carefully researched temple reference

Temple Corner is a free project created by Cultivate. We want temple history to be easy to explore and careful about what it claims.

Temple Corner is an independent project created by Cultivate. It is not an official website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is not endorsed by the Church. For schedules, appointments, and official information, visit churchofjesuschrist.org.

Sources & methods

Every fact on this site comes from TempleForge, Cultivate’s research dataset. Each fact carries a source, a locator, and an observation date. The site publishes a pinned snapshot:

Our rules:

Historical temples

Two historic temples are kept for chronology but are not counted among the 385 current temples: the Kirtland Temple (dedicated 1836) and the original Nauvoo Temple (dedicated 1846).

Photography & credits

165 photographs of 163 temples come from Wikimedia Commons. Each passed a live license check and a visual review of identity and content. We resize them for the web; all other aspects are unchanged. We do not use Church-owned photography. Temples without a cleared photograph use a map-based illustration instead.

Maps

The world atlas uses geometry from Natural Earth (public domain), packaged by world-atlas, which we host ourselves; it calls no mapping service. The Where in the World? game draws its map from OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap contributors.

Privacy

If analytics is enabled, we count page views and interactions such as searches and map selections with PostHog. It sets no cookies; it keeps an anonymous random identifier in your browser so we can tell new from returning visitors. We record no names, search text, or account information. Game progress and settings stay on your device.
