Overview
The Nauvoo Illinois Temple is the reconstructed temple associated with the historic Nauvoo site. The current building was announced in 1999, began construction later that year, and was dedicated in June 2002. Its 47,000-square-foot exterior uses Alabama limestone. Temple Corner keeps this current record separate from the original Nauvoo Temple, whose nineteenth-century history and surviving site evidence belong to a related historical entity rather than to the current operating building.
